Lennox 80mgf3-75a-3 Furnace heat turns on then off

Troubleshooting

When the furnace calls for heat, heat kicks on to do 7 second test for flame, then the flame shuts down. The blower continues to run but no heat runs in the system and tries to cycle the flame test over and over.

This could be due to carbon buildup on the flame sensor and needs to be cleaned to do a proper flame test. This would need to be cleaned using a wire brush.

the flame sensor is located inside the burner assembly, directly in front of the burner; it’s a rod-like component that monitors the flame to ensure it’s burning properly and will shut off the furnace if no flame is detected.

To access the flame sensor

  1. Remove the upper burner mounting rail
  2. Remove far left burner from the mounting rail
  3. Flame sensor rode is at the end of the burner
